It was quiet and peaceful and the car parking area was safe and secure.
Not as clean and fresh as we would have liked - would not rate it as 4 star.
Excellent service in the evening .Excellent food .Clean confortable reasonably stylish rooms
Breakfast service possibly a little slow but really not a big problem
Very comfortable hotel that made you very welcome and was good value for money. I would highle recommend it.
Loved our Deluxe Suite (Number 22) which had a more luxurious feeling of a home away from home. Very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Warm, friendly and very accommodating staff. Delicious food and great service. Perfect Location, smack bang in the countryside which was very peaceful and relaxing, with only a short 10 min drive into St Andrews for Shopping, Sight Seeing, Beaches, Restaurants and Nightlife. Thank you for having us and we will definitely be back!! :-)
Think there needs to be more vegetarian options on the breakfast menu, however in saying that, the staff were very quick to accommodate to my needs.
The executive room was great and the views etc.
The restaurant was a bit disappointing. We were at the 9.15 sitting and the staff seemed in a hurry to leave. While we were sitting in the bar, they hoovered the restaurant whih was loud and annoying. Breakfast was a disappointment. Old toasted that doesn't work well, bacon really bad, potato scone really bad. A real pity because I love the rooms and views.
Lovely ambience of Main Hotel, excellent food, both dinner and breakfast.
Rooms in need of updating, old tv, furnishings not in keeping, heated towel rail not working, unamble to get into bath as shower screen didn't open. No house wine on menu no bottle of wine for less than £20
The team at the hotel were excellent and sorted out any requests we had. The breakfast included with the room rate was good. The rooms were clean and the heating actually worked. Location was perfect in that you could go to St Andrews easily or enjoy the countryside if you wished.
Thought the price was a little high given you can get a weekend in a 4* Marriott for a similar rate (EG: regents park Marriott in London offering a wekend rate for B&B at £149.00 and that's in London. St Andrews is a great place though so I suppose it's location as well that you're paying for, but it still seems a little high. (NB: What may be influencing my statement is that I booked the delux room but got a standard due to our daughter being in our room and the standard room had a bit more space for us to be in and the hotel discounted her breakfast rate from the bill)
Friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. The food was very good
No real compl;aints- minor things. We did not get any biscuits in our room on both nights. The tv did not work despite reporting it to reception..Other than these minor issues, althugh it does enhance one's stay, we were satisfied with everything.
nice room with big bathroom & very clean, only stayed 1nite but would come back
good food. limited choice dinner menue
Not a good choice of beers in the bar
location, rooms excellent size and well equiped.
I think they are doing a really good job in promoting the best of local cuisine in a lovely part of Fife (East Neuk). The staff were all first rate: so friendly and pleasant. It was a good two days: just as well as the weather the full day I was there was verging on floods. But that not unusual this summer! Departed on a sunny day - lovely drive back along the uncrowded coast.
We want to return again when possible
A friendly hotel but also felt could come and go as we wanted. My mother is disabled and found the room easily accessable.
Fromn the moment we arrived we knew we were going to be in for a pleasant stay and we were not disappointed. The staff were proficient yet friendly and the restaurant staff knew the menu well. The room was a good size, light and airy with a fabulous view of the sheep and lambs. The food was excellent although the menu was limited. Having said that, i understand it is hard to provide a fresh menu with a wide range of options. My husband and I shall certainly be boooking again for September when we do the other half of our twice yearly visit to St Andrews. All in all,we had a fabulous time
There was no shaver point in the bathroom. Now, that really is a sign of a good hotel when i have to pick straws to find something to complain about. I twas hardly worth the mention
